She wants to buy used, so I am trying to find something, though she is leaning towars a van, a truck is what I want.

Also what costs more to insure?

Define a "reliable" auction.

If you’re talking about a police auction, consider the source. They’re all vehicles that have been impounded. So, either they’re cars left on the side of the road, vehicles seized during drug busts, etc. All that they’ve done, is clean them up somewhat, and put them on the auction block.

That said, it’s not their personal vehicles. They don’t care what condition they’re in, because it’s total profit anyway.

Plus, just because they’re advertised at $500 Police Auction, that’s just the starting bid. Most times than not, the vehicles go for close to what you would pay for them anyway. There’s really no benefit to it.

If she wants to buy a used vehicle, buy it from a person, not an auction.

http://www.mycarauctionreview.com has a couple of cheap car auction sites you can go to.

You’re better off getting a van. They use less gas and are cheaper to insure.
