Get an experienced rider to drive it for you and pay THEM for doing it. Many riders would do it just for the ride anyway. Check around and find someone you trust. Also make SURE you have insurance on it before you go to pick it up because unless you already have a bike insured on your policy, you don't have "drive off" on a new bike.
References :
Dear Magz,
You should call your dad to help you with life's problems.
He can pull wheelies,[ so I've heard], so maybe daddy can drive your scooter home!
References :
yabutitdoes100mphinfirstgeardad.com

Check the phone book for trailer rental.
"U-Haul" rents trailers by the day and will attach a temporary hitch to your bumper.

Id not suggest purchasing something you do not even know how to ride in the first place... Since it is too late for that, tell the guy to ride it to you and you will reimburse him for gas, give him another $100 on top of it, and a ride home in your car - presuming you know how to drive one of those...
References :
You were supposed to have considered all of this BEFORE you bid on the bike......

Two and a half hours away isn't a great distance but I guess you not being able to ride a bike kind of makes it an issue.

So you're a person who doesn't know how to ride a bike or how to use Ebay......not having a good day so far then.

I suggest you hire a trailer or a box van...assuming you have a driving license at all that is.
If not then you have to get someone else to do it for you, either as a favour or you have to pay them.

Then I also suggest you stop bidding on Ebay for items you can't possibly collect.
References :
why would you buy a bike you know nothing about if you don't know how to ride?

no common sense out of this.... seems pretty simple to round up something to haul it home in.... if you haven't got enough sense for that, what are you going to be like out on the road?
References :
If a friend or relative has a pickup and/or trailer, you could use that. If you don't know anyone nice enough to let you borrow their truck, go to the Uhaul and rent a small van. Other places like Casey's Gas Stations sometimes rent vans. Maybe use a regular car rental place like Avis or Enterprise and rent a small pickup.
References :
to start with, 2 1/2 hrs away isn't anything, anyone with a pickup truck or even suv with a trailer can handle it. I wouldn't ride it home anyway until I could go over it myself let alone a 150+ miles.

Call in a favor to a buddy - no problems!!
References :
Have someone that can drive, get a trailer and go pick it up. You should of had this figured out before you bid on it. Don't be a dead beat bidder. contact the person that you bought it from and ask if you can have a little more time to pick it up. As long as you pay for it right away they should be ok with it. Or offer them an extra $150.00 to deliver it.
References :
you can either have some one else ride it back for you or you could rent a truck or a hitch and tow it back. If you can get a full size truck a motorcycle would easily fit in the back. use a dirt bike ramp to get it up
References :
Either borrow a trailer from a friend, or if you think it is worth the investment, but one. Or, contact the owner and see if he will meet you halfway with a trailer or something, most ebayers are pretty reasonable
