The only auctions you, as a private individual (a non-dealer) can participate in are those held by municipal or government agencies selling-off their old vehicles or asset seizures, or certain private auction companies that specifically deal in auctioning-off repossessed or salvaged (yet operable) vehicles. The main auctions where most dealers buy their vehicles (like Manheim etc.) are generally restricted to licensed car dealers.

Most auction companies and government agencies either hold auctions at certain intervals or announce in advance when they do. There’s no "master list" of auctions, but this is where the internet is so handy as it’s very easy to search for "used car auction los angeles" or any other agency (like DEA, sheriff’s office, etc.) to help you find the best auction to suit your needs.

Whether or not you get a "good deal" depends entirely upon who happens to show-up that day. If you happen to be the only person interested in a particular vehicle, while unlikely, you can walk away with an absolute deal of the century. On the other hand, all it takes is one other person who wants the same vehicle as badly as you and prices can quickly skyrocket.

It’s very easy for novice bidders to get emotional and "chase the bid" only to find themselves left having bought a vehicle for much more than they otherwise would have. While great deals can be had, they’re not guaranteed, nor is there any assurance that any steals will exist on any given day. Patience, flexibility, and the discipline to "let go" what may be a very nice vehicle in favor of the likelihood for a different, better, opportunity is essential.

It is a myth that renting is always worst off than buying.

Rent vs. Buy as Housing Market Continues to Slump

As housing market slump, it is easier to calculate "Rent vs. Buy" scenario. Because "appreciation" is no longer a factor.

Mortgage payment consists of two parts: interests and principal. Interests are like rent, which doesn’t add to the equity to your house. It simply disappear as your pay it.

If interests portion of the mortgage payment is roughly equal to rent of equivalent property, then it is a decent buy.

For example, let’s buy a $500,000 condo with 0% down and apply interests only loan (just like renting a place). Mortgage payment would be $3250/month. It is a bad buy, because you can enjoy same property for $2000/month.

Please note that I assume the tax benefits from home cancel out fees from home association and property tax. For more accurate calculation, consult with your CPA or accountant. But NOT your realtor, whom will say anything to get the deal to go through.

And again, if you like a particular property, then paying more may be reasonable. You are the only person who can decide how much more premium you are willing to pay.

Let me start by saying that we (myself, my brother and my father) currently own 37 single family rental properties.

The best way to overcome the issue you are talking about is to buy rundown properties for below market value and fix them up yourself. This takes cash and usually a lot of it. It’s not uncommon for us to spend 10-15K(and in some cases much more) refurbishing a property after we buy it (new siding, roof, carpeting, appliances, etc).

The second problem you will run into is actually finding the properties to buy. We spend hours just driving around and looking for investment properties. We have also developed relationships with local real estate agents and property managers so that we get a phone call when something interesting comes on the market.

The third problem is that it is extremely difficult to make any money owning just one or 2 properties.

If you only have one then if it goes empty for 3 or 4 months you have a cash flow problem. If you have 10 that is not so much of an issue as you can leverage the money from the other units.

Your fourth problem is going to be time. Remember that everytime a pipe breaks or a sewer overflows, you get a phone call from the renter. If you know how to fix it (and can afford to take the day off work) great. If you don’t, thats your entire month’s rent shot on the plumber.

If you are interested in this business for the long term and want to grow, it’s a great business and it’s still very viable to get into.

If all you are looking for is to own one or 2 and stay small, I would strongly suggest looking at a different investment.

Are they rent controlled. You are the owner, set the rent to cover the mortgage and reasonable repairs/taxes etc. If the local government says you can't, buy anyway and tear down the building. Pretty soon no one has a place to stay and moves to a new town, thus you get the happiness of totally destroying the tax base and any hope of them attracting new business.

Whether you are buying for yourself or buying to rent, for 100% financing, of course that is the case. It is the way these things work, however, that once you have bought, your most important cost is fixed, versus rent which always increases over time (unless the area goes so far down as to basically be a war zone). Inflation.

If you’re looking for positive or comparable cash flow right away, you’re going to have to make a substantial down payment. That’s just the way it is. On the other hand, in the US at least, the tax treatment for mortgages, whether on personal residence or on investment property, makes a substantial difference in the question of whether it is worthwhile.

The math is on the side of renting (or not buying) if you’re not going to keep it for a few years. On the other hand, if you’re planning to keep a property five years or more, the economics generally favor property ownership over any other investment.

the only way you can find out for sure is call a dealer and give them the serial number off the vehicle and let the run the number and they can give you a read out of what options it came with,and most of the time its free through most dealers,there’s no need to buy a remote though for it until you know for sure,good luck.

There is a buy to let market out there, the key is to identify the people who are most likely to need rented accomodation and work out what type of housing they require.
At the moment there are huge numbers of immigrants in the UK from Lithuania and Poland. With the expansion of the EU to include Hungary and Romania next year we are likely to see immigration continue at at least the same level as it has for the last year or so.
The great things (from a landlord’s point of view) about these people are:
1. They are all legal
2. They have come to work and therefore earn money to pay rent
3. They don’t have anywhere to live
4. They don’t mind sharing with each other

Now these people aren’t typically going to be earning megabucks, so trying to rent them a city centre pad with views of the river might not be the best way to go about it. Pick a large house in an urban area and fill it with as many bedrooms as you can – think student accomodation.

Another thing to bear in mind is that property is cheaper Oop T’north. You can buy a reasonably large house in South Leeds for under £90k, for example. Over a 20 year mortgage at 5% your monthly payments would be approx £750.00
Get four people in there at a very resonable £200.00 a month each plus bills and you’re £50.00 a month up and they’re paying your mortgage for you at the same time.

Rental prices are dictated by property prices. There might be a bit of a lag before they catch up, but they will rise as housing prices do. The facts are that the UK population is rising faster than the number of houses being built. As a wise man once said ‘Buy land – they’ve stopped making it’.

You can try to get an insurance police over the span of the mortgage that will mature to the required amount. One of my neighbours once tried to sell his house. The neighbour was a bank manager and the buyer was a bit short of funds. The bank manager arranged the policy for him. Not sure what type of policy it was but you could check with your bank. Call your make or model company (dodge , ford, etc...) and ask them how much a remote would cost they will probably ask you for your vin number and they will tell you if your vehicle was equipped with it or not.

Most buy to lets require 15% deposit so you should get a decent rate on this.

Perhaps target a student area where you can charge per person rather than monthly set rate, 3 students paying £350 per month is over 1k per month, most students will be offered inferior accomodation from their university at a similar rate.

What you do is go to your membership and talk to them about where they work and see if they can get items donated. Items that are donated are then auctioned, keeping in mind the wealth of the group that is expected,if a cross section of the community then anything will be grabbed up. An auction takes lead time and can not be set up on a whim,6 or 8 months should do it now is the time to think about the end of summer. Contact the local businesses and see what you can gather travel agents sponsor trips airlines have empty seats so they donate seats on some flights golf courses may donate a set. You could go on and on, your target group is what decides what will sell the best.

IRS is aware he owes, my concern here is how are you getting paid? and are you sure he is reporting the correct information (W2) for you to IRS every year. You could end up thinking the W2 if he is giving you one at the end of the year matches what he is reporting to the IRS.
You could end up with a CP2000 for underreported income.
Watch out and start looking for another job.

My first impression is that you have a potential problem. I base this impression on the fact that you know so much about this person’s finances, that you may have some involvement. If you know enough about this, you may find yourself liable for some of the underpayment of business taxes.

This person is probably stashing cash somewhere and laundering money in addition to his tax fraud. If you have knowledge of this as his employee, this is another potential problem for you.

Many a CEO has blamed his underlings for criminal actions initiated by the CEO, and claimed no knowledge.

Disengage yourself from this person immediately to avoid future problems befalling you. In your own best interest, do not report what you know to any taxing authority.

You may luck out here. Go to IRS.GOV and obtain a form 211. This is an application form for the reward paid for information which enablea the IRS to put the glom on tax cheats and people like your boss. If you and I pay taxes then cheats such as your boss get no sympathy from me; their cheating means the taxes for those of us being honest are higher as we have to pay for those who don't.

Depending on how sharp the IRS revenue officer who get his case is, he may end up being one of the rare individuals who gets prosecuted for willful failure to pay over withholding taxes. He is stealing from his employees and in the federal justice system the offense is classified the same as embezzlement. I recommend looking for a new job.

No. The IRS knows about his debt. They truly don’t care if you can’t show you don’t have any money. They’ll wait until he owes them a million or two and then they’ll pounce. They’ll take every single item away from him. They’ll come into his home when he isnt’ ready and take every single item out of it and sell it at auction.

Every time he buys something like a vehicle, you’ll have your social security number uses and the IRS follows that carefully. As for the rest, they won’t truly care as they know they’ll get it too, eventually.

His insurance commissions won’t save him, neither will incorporating his business. The IRS is an institution unto itself and has powers that even our president cannot stop. It’s not owned or operated by the USA.

Do you really want to get your name involved and have them take a look at you simply to tell them what they already know? They know he’s hiding money and they know how to find it.

His biggest mistake…. not trying to get an attorney and getting it down to very little money and paying it off. Then being able to start fresh and doing things right from here on out. They are now going back over the last 7 years of his returns and finding out how much he really owes… plus that;’s 7 years from the date he was found to be fradulent. They can also continue to follow him for the next few years building their case from the past and the present. He’ll be in deep….
The IRS will be happy.

Too late to blow the whistle for a reward, but if it was me, I would volunteer everything I know to the IRS. You can send it anonymously if you want. Give as much detail as possible – specific activities, dates, amounts, etc. so they can prosecute him and levy his assets as extensively as possible. If scum like that paid their fair share, the rest of us could pay less. OK, in theory at least!

Since the IRS already knows about this, there’s no whistle to blow.

Forming a corp won’t help him; it’s just a waste of money at this point. As an officer of the corp (and probably its principal shareholder), he’s personally liable for the taxes. And any taxes owed prior to the formation of the corp will come out of his personal pockets anyway.

I’d be more concerned about YOUR situation though. He’s about to be shut down by the IRS and FTB. If I were in your shoes, I’d be polishing my resume and be getting ready to jump ship ASAP.

Hopefully your job responsibilities don’t include paying the business’ taxes. If they do, YOU can be held personally liable for them as well! (This is no joke. Many a former bookkeeper of a defunct corporation has been held personally liable for the business’ taxes when the owners skipped out and could not be located.) Get out of Dodge ASAP!

You'll probably be burning around 6 to 8 gallons per hour, so the key here is what the planing speed of the hull is. Planing boats are not a particularly fuel-efficient breed; a displacement hull is much more efficient provided you keep the speed (and the wake) down. Without seeing the boat or knowing the condition of the motor, I'd guess that you will be making regular trips to the fuel dock. 4-stroke engines are more fuel efficient, and ripping everything that is not essential out of the boat to reduce weight will help. Atomic Dog is absolutely right. You need a realtor quick fast and in a hurry. In most states it’s completely legal to represent both sides of a deal but it’s not good business and borders on being unethical. Besides, as a buyer, your realtor works for you for free. The buyer’s rep gets paid by the listing agent who must split his commission 50/50. This is why he’s so generously offered to represent you in the purchase of this property- smell the sarcasm.
By the way, I’m a realtor- one of the many good ones. I never work both ends of a deal- just not that greedy.

Although I do feel for your situation I feel that the answer to this question is far more complicated than a simple answer can solve.
I do hate the corporate greed that is at hand, I am against the UAW having that much power in labor (although I am pro-union) and effecting the cost of american automobiles. I think there comes a point where we have to say enough is enough on salaries and hourly compensations.
At the same time there are alot of people who depend on the big 3 who do not directly work for them that will suffer as a result of their going under.
To answer that question I would have to have a committee that has all the facts on who will be affected should they go under and who indeed will suffer from their demise.
It is easy to want revenge on someone who has wronged you but do you really want the mechanics in the field who are not making those salaries or the parts house employees or the car washer at the dealerships or the many others that depend on these 3 to loose their automobiles, homes etc should these 3 go under?
It is a decision I am glad I am not responsible to make, In one hand your are rewarding bad, greedy management on the other millions who had nothing to do with it will be punished if the wrong decision is made.

Hard to answer, but here is how I would approach it.

Try to figure out what a comparable house in the Indianapolis area would go for on a standard lot. Pick a house in decent condition. I might used Greencastle or Danville area. Then try to add to that what you feel the extra 9 or more acres is worth. Then discount from that total what the repair and upgrades for things like A/C are going to cost ($30k-$40k ???).

Also, consider that the housing market is not real great right now. And not a lot of people want to live that far out in the country. It’s just too far to drive to work!

It doesn’t really hurt that much to low-ball in this market. The worst they can do is say no and it will likely result in a counteroffer that will give you a better idea of their rock bottom price.

Everyone says to get another realtor. I don’t know that I necessarily agree with that. Realtors can represent both sides in Indiana, it is legal. Yes, he will not give you much help on an offer price, but if you can figure that out yourself, then no big deal. Your offer may be more indicative of what you can afford rather than what the house is worth anyway! And trust me, any realtor is going to have a hard time appraising that property.

A realtor can charge the seller anything he wants. If he knows that he will not be having to split a commission with your realtor, he can charge the seller less overall for the services, even if he is representing you also (because he keeps both sides). This means the owner keeps more of the sale proceeds and therefore might be willing to take a lower price for the home.

The first thing I would do is get another realtor. The conflict of interest will not allow you to make the best possible deal.

Second, I would let them know that I am preparing an offer. i would proceed in this manner:

find the fair market value of the house in good condition. (ex $250K)
Subtract the estimate for repairs. (ex $200K)
establish in you mind the max you are willing to pay. (ex $185K).
Make an offer in the neighborhood of the lowest figure.
In this scenario, I would offer 185K, with the hope they will take 190K.

If you want to keep the truck, you or he could request a duplicate title online and have it mailed to your boss, then have him sign it over to you and mail the title to you. It costs money but not a lot. If you want the truck to be gone, you could call a towing company to junk it. They may charge you money but you could take him to small claims to recover. Or you could call the police, the tow company will take it, and they'll bill your boss for the tow and junk.

Tell your former boss you are going to drag the truck to his house and drop in his driveway then file a lawsuit against him to collect the 5 years of storage fees.

See if he doesn’t send you the title after that conversation.

Seriously, you need to contact the county and ask them how to claim abandoned property. If it’s not done properly you can find yourself in some un needed trouble. The details may even be listed in the county website.

Get another agent to represent you in the purchase.

Offer what you think is reasonable. It is hard to say what the home is actually worth in that condition and area.

If it is up for auction, they may be willing to negotiate and would probably be willing to cover their costs.

Hi,

I would also feel ripped off. The part that holds the Headlight is normally called a "Cradle" and is not part of the fairing in any way. By stating Headlight and Assembly, the seller has commited to selling this part.

The Cradle does double as a Mirror and Fairing mount on many motorcycles though.

If you purchased a full fairing from a motorcycle shop, you would not get the cradle with it.

A lot will depend on what state you live in. Each has its own regulations on rebuilding a salvage bike. Many require the work to be done by a licensed rebuilder. Check first with your state DMV and find out your particular salvage regs.

Ok here goes Bikers inc is a good place and so is kim motor all you have to do is search motor cycle salvage to find several places now for the bike you will what to change your mind once you see the prices involed to rebuild a sled from a wreak the only salvage bikes that are worth the effort are theft bikes that havent been stripped repainting alone is over a grand a good frame will cost around 3500.00 and thats not complete if you are interested in a harley try hdtrader.com (ps this will also take you to the 2 sites mentioned above and they have other brands on there sites) gl hope it helps

Salvaging a bike can be a very costly project. The hardest part about it can be getting the bike inspected and re-registered. There are hundreds of companies that salvage bikes, but most sell only the parts as it's a more lucrative business. With that said, there are some out there that sell whole bikes and most of them actually list on ebay. Do a yahoo search on MC salvaging and see what comes up. Good luck on any project bikes you may take on.

No, it cant pick up internet through the USB. When you open up internet settings on a 20 gig the only options are for Ethernet, you cannot install a driver for a USB dongle.

I think Barrett Jackson’s gone downhill in recent years. This year was horrible with the constant begging to bid more. The auctioneer would say going once twice, third and final call, and… suddenly a guy on stage would grab the mike and say "let me just add". When that didn’t work, "folks you’re missing a great opportunity here", then " this car is worth much more". They have been doing this a lot in recent years, but this year it was like every car. Especially the Mustang Shelby owned. "You’re only paying $500,000 for a car worth a million". Who says it’s worth a million? It’s worth what someone is willing to pay, and I didn’t see anyone willing to pay anywhere close to 1 million. They spent like 6 minutes begging with this car, compared to the what 30 seconds all the other cars get on the block.
That being said, I though Shelby’s personal Mustang would go for more than what it did ($625,000 ?) considering his Cobra went for 5 million last year. Also, the Presidential Limo ($250,000) I thought was a decent deal. There was a major steal today (Sunday). a 1970 GTO went for like $35,000, even with their begging!

We just saw the General Lee from the Dukes of Hazard sell for $450,000! IMO ~ it isn’t worth that much!

I also saw the 2009 Corvette sell for a MILLION! The guy who brought it owes the OLDEST Vette in exist.

I looked on here for vehicles 03-06 with under 100,000 miles and within 75 miles of my area. I have seen the best deals from this website. And just because they advertise one price doesn’t mean you cant get it for less.

make sure to compare the asking prices with the prices on kbb.com (kelly blue book) or nada.com

I bought a 2006 Ford Taurus with 99,000 miles on it for 50% of it’s retail price from a buy here pay here. I had to drive 70 miles to see it, and test drive it. But it was well worth it. It was a $8,000 car. I love it! I have 102,000 miles on it now.

You can also look on Craigslist.com

A few short years ago, Barrett Jackson was exciting and educational. Recently, it’s turned into a millionaire’s club where these guys can show off their spending ability.
Last year, my boss went to it with $300,000 to see what he could get (hoping for an original cobra) and found he was embarrassed to admit that’s all he had to spend. Obviously, he came back with nothing.
